Lumina Foundation announces 2008-10 Research Advisory Committee 

Indianapolis—Lumina Foundation for Education today named the members of its 2008-10 Research Advisory Committee. "Research is a key strategy in Lumina's mission of improving student access and success in postsecondary education," said Jamie Merisotis, Lumina's president and chief executive officer. "These individuals bring a wealth of knowledge and resources that will provide insight and guidance as the Foundation strives to improve policy and practice in higher education."

These national higher education experts include:

  • Clifford Adelman, senior associate, Institute for Higher Education Policy (Washington, D.C.)
  • Jorge Balan, senior researcher, Centro de Estudios de Estado y Sociedad (Argentina), and Visiting Professor, Ontario Institute for Studies of Education (Canada)
  • Brian Bosworth, president, Futureworks (Seattle, Wash.)
  • Anthony Carnevale, president, Center on Education in Workforce, (Washington, D.C.)
  • Sally Clausen, president, University of Louisiana System (Baton Rouge, La.)
  • Peter Ewell, vice president, National Center for Higher Education Management Systems (Boulder, Colo.)
  • Patricia Gandara, co-director, UCLA Executive Information Studies (Los Angeles, Calif.)
  • Paul Lingenfelter, president, State Higher Education Executive Officers (Boulder, Colo.)
  • David Longanecker, president, Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (Boulder, Colo.)
  • Laura Perna, associate professor, University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, Pa.)
  • Sheri Ranis, senior research officer, Gates Foundation (Seattle, Wash.)
  • Stephen J. Reno, chancellor, University System of New Hampshire (Durham, N.H.)
  • Dave Spence, president, Southern Regional Education Board (Atlanta, Ga.)

Each member of the committee has agreed to serve a two-year term.
